Career Progression

Your career at Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Services commences with a 16-week training course - Phase One.

This is a residential course based at the Training Annexe at Kingsway Fire Station. The course is practical and theory, with regular written and practical assessments.

Topics covered on the course include:

• Induction
• Team building
• Knots and lines
• Ladders and hoses
• Pump operation
• Breathing apparatus (BA) and advanced BA
• First responder
• Road Traffic Collision (RTC)
• Themed Incident

The Phase One course must be successfully completed before being posted to a fire station.
